The removal of a tooth leads to the formation of an empty hollow space in the gums , known as socket . Usually after the extraction of a tooth a blood clot forms to protect the nerves and bone the underneath. The blood clot also serves as the foundation for the development of soft tissues over the bone and growth of a new bone.
DRY SOCKET SYMPTOMS

Unpleasant taste in the mouth
Bone is visible in the socket

Mouth has a foul odour or bad breath
Pain can come from the socket to the neck, temple on the same side as the tooth extraction
