TIPS FOR GOOD ORAL HYGIENE FOR ORTHODONTIC PATIENTS

*Brush at least twice a day
*It is recommended that you brush after each meal
*Use interdental brush -easier to reach between teeth
*Floss regularly -try a floss threader
*Replace your toothbrush as the bristles wear down
*Use a mirror to check after brushing 
*Use plaque tablets-check for missed areas
*Make it a habit to rinse
*Drink lots of water -produces saliva 
*Avoid foods that are sticky or too hard -these foods can loosen the brackets and break wires
*Cut crunchy foods into small bite-sized pieces (apples, carrots )
*Food can get caught under braces and become difficult to remove
*Avoid sugary foods and drinks
