Children's Packed Lunch

Don't know what to pack for your child's lunch?

Here are some suggestions that will help your child maintain a healthy smile!

*VEGETABLES- carrots, celery, mixed vegetables, salads are a great too.
TIP: a small container of a healthy dip will encourage your child to eat all their vegetables
*FRUITS -Apples, strawberries. Bananas (great with a healthy fruit dip)
TIP: Avoid citrus fruits. These contain acids that can make teeth vulnerable to decay.
Fibrous fruits and vegetables help keep your child's teeth healthy as they are natural teeth cleaners.
*DAIRY -yogurt, cheese -dairy products contain calcium and other important vitamins for child's oral health
*NUTS-almonds, pistachios, cashews and walnuts.
Nuts are a great source of protein, healthy fats, fibre and Vitamin D
TIP: look for nuts that come as slivers, much easier for children to eat and easier on their teeth)
*WHOLE GRAIN BREAD - much healthier for your child. You can also pack healthy pita bread or wraps or crackers.
TIP- try sugar-free or all-natural spreads such as peanut butter and jam, mayonnaise ). Choose natural meat slices(less processed and healthier)
*WATER- helps to keep saliva flowing. This helps wash away food debris and acids and helps to keep teeth clean.
TIP: Avoid coloured, citrus flavour waters and sports waters as these contain lots of sugar, thus defeating the purpose of water.

Reminder: Book your child's dental check-up and cleaning. Send your child back to school with a healthy, happy smile
